Michael's Birthday

Michael took the day off on his birthday to spend time with his mom and his girls. We started off with breakfast at Boulange in Cole Valley before heading to Juliet's "gym-massics cass" at AcroSports, where we met up with Grammy Linda.

After class we headed to the Academy of Sciences in the park where we spent most of the afternoon.

Pumpkin Patch

We took the Monday afternoon playgroup outside this week to the Pumpkin Patch on 7th Avenue at Warren. There were loads of pumpkins, witches, hayrides, and a hay bale maze. What more could a girl want? One child in costume was about all I could manage, but Adeline didn't seem to mind.

Busy Sunday

We had a busy day this Sunday. We started the day at Ramona Bea's second Birthday party. Juliet spent most of her time in Ramona's room playing with her pink retro kitchen set. Here is the beautiful birthday girl followed by some self-portraits by Juliet.

After cupcakes, it was time to pick up Grammy Linda and head to Bob's to celebrate Jessica's birthday. We spent the afternoon in the backyard and finished the day with more cake. Oops, no pictures of the other birthday girl.

Noe Valley Harvest Festival

We hiked the hill to 24th Street for the Harvest Festival. The street was blocked to traffic and there were face painters, booths set up with clothes, jewelry, and other fun stuff for sale, the weekly farmers' market, a jumpy house, and live music. Michael bought me a cute bracelet at one of the booths. Lots of kids were in costume including our ballerina (I suggested a change from her ladybug costume due to the super hot and sunny day). Juliet had her first face painting experience. It came out cute, but unfortunately, it didn't last long since we had to take it off for naptime. Oh well. I saw a great tee while we were there that said "Vote Irish - Vote O'Bama". If it wasn't so close to election time, I would have bought my own.

Pastorino Farms

We went to Half Moon Bay for the day with friends for some Halloween time fun. We started the day at Ketch Joanne for grilled crab and jack cheese sandwiches (to die for). Nikki bought all of the kids frozen yogurt treats before we headed to Pastorino Farms for pony rides, a petting zoo, jumpy house, and slide. (More pics on Nikki's blog.)

Here are Juliet and Riley on their second annual shared pony ride. It's hard to believe a whole year has passed since our last trip to Pastorino.

Juliet was fearless on the giant slide and on the ponies, too. I thought for sure she would refuse the pony ride this year, but the attendant plopped her right on and she just went for it (she didn't have time to think twice about it, which was probably a good thing!).

Changing Names for Baby

When we first tried to teach Juliet to say her sister's name, she started calling her "Baby aa-aa-aa", which I think was her attempt at the three syllable name, Adeline. Then she started calling her "Baby aa-EE" which soon became "aa-EE KLEEEEYR" (Addie Claire, which is what I call her). Most recently, though, she started saying "Baby Onnie". I have no idea why, or where she got it from. When I ask her "is that your sister's name?", she replies "Baby Addie!" Maybe "Onnie" is easier to say than "Addie"? But "Addie" sure is close to "Daddy" and she doesn't have a problem with that... Hmph. It's a mystery.

I've got to say, "aa-EE KLEEEEYR" is my favorite. I'm sure next week it will be something different.

Goblin Jamboree

Delphine and I took the girls to the Goblin Jamboree at the Discovery Museum for their annual Halloween Party. Juliet and Chloe have matching ladybug costumes and little Addie was dressed up as a spider. There was a live band, stilt walkers, scary face-painting (but not in a good way), a train ride, a haunted house, and all kinds of other fun stuff. We missed out on the petting zoo and the pony rides because we never bothered to look at the map and both of those activities were hidden in the back. Oh well, next year we will be wiser.

Accessories

It's never too early to start accessorizing.

Juliet loves to wear jewelry. She doesn't last long with the earrings, since I think they quickly become uncomfortable, but she can almost always be found wearing a necklace. I remember playing with these very same clip on earrings when they were in my mom's jewelry box and I was a wee lass (ditto the two flower pins). Hopefully she won't do with my lipstick what I did with my mom's... what a mess.
