Oliver is "So Big"!

After working on this last week, then pestering Oliver with the help of my girls this morning, we finally got Oliver to raise his arms for "So Big!". I love a new trick and am posting this for his mom and dad to see. Yay, Oliver!!

Day at Yerba Buena 7/9

A surly teenager already?!

Adeline got soaked and had to spend the rest of our time in just her undershirt and tights. Silly girl.

Juliet turns 4!!!! July 2nd

Special birthday breakfast, with decorations by the Birthday Fairy (thanks for the b-day fairy idea, Jill!).

The girls, in their matching dresses from Auntie Pat, on their way to see Toy Story 3.

Juliet with her big girl bike. No more tricycles for me, Mom and Dad!

Safety first!

Making a wish on the Strawberry Charlotte.

The Charlotte tasted much better than it looked. The next morning when I opened the refrigerator, I found the bowl of perfect little strawberries that I had set aside as a garnish. No wonder it looked nothing like the picture... oh well, presentation isn't everything. I tried!

hmmm, somebody looks a little like her dad in this picture.

Playtime with our bud, Beckett

We had the pleasure of spending some time with Beckett this summer while his regular babysitter was out of town. We went to the Randall Museum to see the animals and trains:

Impromptu puppet show put on by Beckett and Juliet.

This day we walked to Bi-Rite for ice cream and then onto Dolores Park (though playtime was cut short there because Juliet had to go potty, but wouldn't go because the bathrooms were too dirty (argh!) - home we went, fast!)

Bi-rite Creamery treats! YUM!

oh dear...

Juliet: "I love you more than daddy because you're a girl"

Me: "That would hurt daddy's feelings, honey."

Juliet: "Well, then, don't tell him."

When did she get so smart?!

Adeline Turns TWO! (and finally catches up with her attitude)

I can't believe my baby girl is two years old. I am equal parts sad that she is growing up so fast and happy that we are inching closer to forever being done with diapers!

Juliet, Oliver, Nana, and I took Adeline to the library for a juggling and magic show to celebrate the big day.

Juliet looks skeptical.

Oliver, hanging out.

The girls with Nana.

Oliver getting ready to impress us with his block building.

Chocolate fudge CAKE TIME! I figured it was safe to assume that my favorite cupcake would be what Adeline wanted on her birthday...

In her favorite "polka dress".

Sharing a laugh with Grandma.

Big dreams for the future!

Hello Kitty cupcake! (well, at least that is what it was supposed to look like).

Yuba River Camping

Our first camping trip of the season was at the Yuba River near Downieville, in gold mining country. We were right on the bank of the river, so we were lulled to sleep each night by the sound of the rushing water. The girls slept well there; I am sure it sounded a lot like the white noise machine they sleep with at home. This is bear country, so I set up our (gigantic) tent so that our heads would be in the middle of the tent instead of on the exterior walls because I foolishly read about bear attacks before we went there and was afraid we would be mauled through the walls of our tent. We didn't see any sign of bears while we were there, though, thankfully.

Adeline at In-N-Out Burger in Auburn on the way up.

"The Condo" right on the bank of the river.

Adeline missed out on s'mores, because she was in desperate need of an early bedtime, but Juliet learned good roasting techniques from Daddy.

nom nom nom.

Happy Camper!

Cones in Downieville, a sweet and charming old Gold Rush town.

Mommy, the only one smart enough to stay out of the 49 degree river!

Adeline going for a spin.

Adeline, the wanderer.

Goofballs.

Singing in the great outdoors. We'll have to teach her some campfire songs.

Snug as a bug. Next year we hope to leave the pack n play at home!

Beautiful spot to view the river on the way home.
