Yuba River Camping

Our first camping trip of the season was at the Yuba River near Downieville, in gold mining country. We were right on the bank of the river, so we were lulled to sleep each night by the sound of the rushing water. The girls slept well there; I am sure it sounded a lot like the white noise machine they sleep with at home. This is bear country, so I set up our (gigantic) tent so that our heads would be in the middle of the tent instead of on the exterior walls because I foolishly read about bear attacks before we went there and was afraid we would be mauled through the walls of our tent. We didn't see any sign of bears while we were there, though, thankfully.

"The Condo" right on the bank of the river.

Adeline missed out on s'mores, because she was in desperate need of an early bedtime, but Juliet learned good roasting techniques from Daddy.

Happy Camper!

Cones in Downieville, a sweet and charming old Gold Rush town.

Mommy, the only one smart enough to stay out of the 49 degree river!

Adeline, the wanderer.

Goofballs.

Singing in the great outdoors. We'll have to teach her some campfire songs.

Snug as a bug. Next year we hope to leave the pack n play at home!

Beautiful spot to view the river on the way home.
