My Baby is a Kindergartener!!

First day at Harvey Milk Civil Rights Academy!

(in front of a small portion of the beautiful mosaic mural on the front of the building)

Juliet's confidence waivered a bit when she saw how many kids there were on the yard (and our school is small, at just under 250). She wanted to stay close to Daddy in an empty corner of the school yard when we first arrived.

The kids and parents joined with their respective classes for circle time. The principal, Tracy Peoples, introduced herself and had all of the kids hold up a peace sign with one hand while putting one finger on their lips with the other to show that they are listening and not talking. Juliet fell right into step! Then it was time for a quick kiss goodbye and she was whisked off to her classroom with her teacher Ms. Whitt and their classroom aid, Miss Lisa. And so it begins.

We went to the cafeteria for orientation afterward (where Adeline fell asleep in my arms) and were given the lowdown on how much cash the school needs to raise in order to keep all of the resources that we have (holy smokes!). I feel thankful to be at a school where we know so many people already and am so excited about our new community!

I pick up Juliet at 3:30 pm and hope that I don't need a wheelbarrow to get her home...
