Baby Grace came over with her mom, Jen, to visit us and to have dinner. Juliet and I were admiring Baby Grace when I asked Juliet if she would like to add another baby to the family (but trust me, we aren't actually considering this; I just wanted to see what she would say).
The Conversation:
Me to Juliet: "Would you like to have another baby sister?"
Juliet: "Yes. But I think I'd like a baby brother.......[expression of deep thought on her brow] Mommy? Do baby boys come from daddies' tummies?"
What a logical conclusion! Incorrect, but logical nonetheless. :)

Can't Blame the Kid for Trying...
Michael and I went snowboarding at Sierra on Friday, leaving our moms in charge of the girls for two days. My mom spent the night on Thursday so that we could get on the road at the crack of dawn on Friday. This is the conversation she had with Juliet that morning over breakfast:
Juliet (after finishing her breakfast): "Oh, can I have my ice cream now?"
(Juliet and I made ice cream on Thursday night and I told her she could have some for dessert the next day)
Nana: "We don't have ice cream after breakfast."
Juliet: "We do sometimes when Mommy and Daddy aren't home."
Quite the imagination! Needless to say, Nana didn't give her the ice cream...

but I love you...
The conversation:
Michael [annoyed after being jumped on or near repeatedly]: "I don't want you jumping all over me!"
Juliet: "but, I love you." (and gives Dad a hug)
Interesting logic at play there.

"Moww" Shirt and other happenings
These pictures were taken at Juliet's school's Christmas party.
Adeline stands on top of her changing table at every opportunity. This morning, while I was getting her dressed, was no exception. I opened the top drawer to the dresser that sits beside the changing table and picked out a plain white top. Adeline peered in and pointed at the Hello Kitty shirt in the drawer and said "moww". I thought it was overkill to wear the shirt, being that she was already set to wear a Hello Kitty hoodie, so I closed the drawer figuring that she would forget about the shirt. After I closed the drawer, she kept pointing and "moww"-ing until I re-opened the drawer and pulled out her favorite sparkly Hello Kitty shirt (from Nana). The kid was NOT going to take no for an answer! I don't know if I am prepared to deal with an eighteen month old fashionista.
In other funny Adeline news, this afternoon the song "Boys Don't Cry" by The Cure came on and she shouted "PHONE!". I am impressed that she recognizes my ring tone (especially given the fact that I never seem to hear my phone ring...).
Adeline's personality has really come out in the past few months. She gets what it is to joke now and makes us laugh all the time. Some of her new words: Grandma (yay for Grandma Linda!), soap, breakfast (she thinks this means cereal), orange, yuck!, nice ("ni-SH"). Whenever I put a hair clip in her hair I tell her, "oh, you look so nice!", so now she beats me to the punch by saying "ni-SH!" when I put her clip in. She is ridiculously cute these days, but also trying her hand at tantrum throwing. I think she is already learning that she has the wrong mom for those, since throwing herself on the ground and crying only gets a chuckle and a disappearing act from mom. Can't blame the kid for trying, though.
Juliet's new thing is constantly telling me how much she loves me รก la Little Nutbrown Hare. The other day she said, "Goodnight, Mommy. I love you a lot. High to the moon."
Oh geez, another conversation for the blog just took place:
Juliet: "Mommy, I want a other kitty."
me [confused, thinking she is talking about a toy or Hello Kitty shirt]: What other kitty?
Juliet: "I want a kitty, 'cause the other one died."
me: "What does "died" mean?"
Juliet: "I don't know."
End of conversation, PHEW! I think she saw Nina's picture in the ornament on the Christmas tree.

I thought you was six...
The conversation:
Juliet: "How you're old, Mommy?"
Me: [confused] "What, honey?"
Juliet: "You six?"
Me: [question decoded] "Oh, how old am I?"
Juliet: [relieved that mom finally figured out what she was trying to say] "Yeah."
Me: [after doing some quick math] "I'm 33."
Juliet: "Oh. I thought you was six."
I guess, to a 3-year old, six seems REALLY big!
