Randall Schmandall

I was all excited to check out the Toddler Treehouse at the Randall Museum because it sounds so cool. Maybe my expectations were the problem, but I didn't think it was all that exciting. I had envisioned some sort of crawler-friendly reproduction of a forest or something, but it was a room with some books and stairs and a tree mural on the wall. I hadn't been to the Randall since my nanny days and it is mostly the same, but overall it seems a bit nicer. Especially after seeing some of the other cool stuff they have going on there for bigger kids, I think they can do better (but who am I to complain, I didn't even leave a donation!).

It was fun to take Juliet into the petting zoo (except when she was teetering over and putting her hands down in the wood shavings - yeck!). She also got excited about the birds. We were there at closing time, so we got to see the staffers feeding little bald pink mice to the crows. It was kinda creepy, but also very cool. Not exactly crocodile wrestling, but cool nonetheless. I don't know if I would have taken it as well if the mice had been furry.
