Today my mom started singing "Itsy Bitsy Spider" to Juliet and J crawled over and grabbed her Itsy Bitsy Spider book. I had no idea that she remembered or even paid that much attention to that particular story. We don't read it that often, but I guess Nana does and it's made quite the impression. I missed it (darn work!), but I am proud just the same.
Tonight at dinner I gave J a cracker. She did her windshield wiper move on the tray table, making it clear that she was not interested in the cracker. I held out a different kind of cracker and said, "Do you want this one instead?". She nodded her head and said "yeh". Not quite "yeah" or "yes" but kind of a cross between the two. This is the first time she has nodded affirmatively. It is so cute I almost can't handle it.
Juliet likes to snack on Nina's food when she can get away with it (thankfully, we feed the cat kibble and not canned - yeck). When I catch her I always tell her not to eat the cat food, explain that it is for the kitty, and put it on the counter out of her reach. Just a week or two ago I saw her reach for the cat food, but before I could say anything she pulled her hand back and started shaking her head "no". I feel like I blinked and she turned into a kid. She makes me laugh with some crazy new thing every day.
