We got off of our tushes on day 3 and went for a hike (albeit a short hike) around Spooner Lake. In an attempt to pack lite, we left the diaper bag in the car and half way around the lake, where there were great photo ops, we realized that we had left the camera in the car. So, sadly, the photo is of the view from the parking lot (and, no, Mike did not carry her on his shoulders all the way around the lake). There were some serious troopers on the trail - we came across two women, one of whom was carrying an infant while the other pushed a rather flimsy looking double stroller with a toddler and a school aged kid in it. Through sand. Upon seeing that, I was especially grateful for the air-filled tires set up that we had going!
Juliet woke up just as we were nearing the end of our hike. I pulled out the picnic blanket and rested by the lake while Mike took Juliet to make friends with the geese.
We couldn't understand all of the tree graffiti we came across on our hike. There are Aspens everywhere you look at Spooner Lake and it seemed that a third of them had some one's initials carved in them. It is a cross country skiing and snow shoeing area, so it gets visitors year round, and I guess they all pack their carving knives. Am I the only one who thinks this is strange? and wrong?
